The ROCKWOOL Story
ROCKWOOL was started in 1909, Headquartered in Denmark.
In 1937, the ROCKWOOL Group opened its first stone wool factory in Hedehusene, Denmark.
In 1954, ROCKWOOL began to produce stone wool in Germany. It was the first factory to operate outside Scandinavia. ROCKWOOL grew rapidly in Europe during the 1960s and 1970s.
Over the oil crisis in the 1970s, people came to realize the importance of household insulation as global energy prices continued to rise. The turnover of the ROCKWOOL Group swiftly climbed from DKK 360 million in 1970 to DKK 1.6 billion in 1979.
During the 1990s, ROCKWOOL was witnessed with the most rapid expansion. In 1988, it established the first factory outside the Europe by acquisition; the factory was located near Toronto, Canada.
ROCKWOOL entered the Eastern and Southern Europe in 1999; the new factory in Spain was built in 2000, the same year it acquired a Malaysian factory and began the journey in Southeast Asia.
In the 21st century, ROCKWOOL opened factories in China, extending the business to more countries and regions. In 2010, the ROCKWOOL Group wrote its new chapter in Greater China.
The ROCKWOOL Foundation, founded in 1981, is a charity organization and the largest shareholder of the ROCKWOOL Group, currently holding 23% shares.
ROCKWOOL China is part of the ROCKWOOL Group.
At present, ROCKWOOL China has a factory located in Guangzhou, branch offices based in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and other major cities, with over 300 employees.
Stone wool insulation is made from volcanic rocks that are one of the richest natural resources. Stone wool has many remarkable features. Our products perform well in fire resistance, noise reduction, thermal insulation and durability, thus a cost-effective choice of sustainability. Many lives were saved by the excellent fire protection of stone wool, and its unique thermal performance also improves the interior environment of buildings and residences. Various types of residential, commercial and industrial buildings are equipped with our products, including the Beijing landmark project Z15 Tower, the Shanghai World Expo China Pavilion, Hong Kong International Airport, and residences, hospitals and schools located in many other countries.
