ROCKWOOL DD Series
As a non-combustible inorganic material, stone wool has been widely used in the field of thermal insulation and construction insulation; however, there are still some shortcomings in the engineering applications. One frequently seen problem is that the common way to achieve a certain level of mechanical strength is to improve the density of materials. This approach will not only add more loads to the substrate, but increase the thermal conductivity and the difficulty of construction as well, which also becomes a bottleneck for the further development of stone wool products.
The ROCKWOOL DD product is an innovation of the ROCKWOOL Group; its unique heterogeneous structure overcomes the tension between the density and strength of traditional stone wool products, with a higher strength at a lower density.
In addition to the Class A1 fire performance, good hydrophobicity and other advantages, ROCKWOOL DD board has other features that a traditional stone wool board does not have:
Higher mechanical strength
The ROCKWOOL DD board has a higher surface strength that increases the overall mechanical strength. In the external wall insulation system and dry curtain wall system, the high-strength surface of the board enhances the wind pressure resistance and tensile strength of the system, and therefore further improves its safety. In the flat roofing system, a higher surface strength of stone wool board can not only help bear the even load in the long term, but can transfer the point load into even load, so as to improve the capacity of stone wool in the system.
Better acoustic performance
Sound pollution became more and more serious. The soundproof performance of partition wall and enclosure becomes increasingly important. But the light steel keel wall that has been widely used usually takes effective for high-frequency noises, but fails to handle some low-frequency noises such as noises made from elevators, pumps, and electrical appliances. With longer wavelength and spread distance, low-frequency noise also has a stronger capacity to penetrate materials, with lower energy loss, which makes insulation more difficult than that of high-frequency noise. The ROCKWOOL DD board, with a unique heterogeneous structure, performs better in sound insulation and sound absorption, especially for low-frequency noises.
Tightly fixed, Less heat loss
The ROCKWOOL DD products are relatively soft inside, more easily to be fixed to the wall. This prevents the appearance of a layer of air that can circulate, thereby reducing the heat loss caused by airflow. The dense surface of the board further lower the level of heat loss brought by wind, so that the whole system can have an excellent performance in thermal insulation.
Lower density, lighter weight
On the condition of reaching the level of mechanical strength required by system, the overall density of the ROCKWOOL DD product is lower than that of traditional stone wool board, with a weight reduced by more than 15%. The transportation is much easier, the construction more convenient, which further reduces the load and cost of the construction.
